Atlanta, GA October 19, 2020 – – Southern Equality Fun (SEF) awarded  House of Heralds with their #BlackLivesMatter grant, which is dedicated to resourcing and celebrating the Black-led organizing across the LGBTQ South. Grants of up to $1,000 will support Black LGBTQ organizers leading projects such as direct action, resilience and healing efforts, direct service, artistic endeavors, and bail-out funds, across the South.“Every day, we witness the resilience, creativity and resourcefulness of LGTBQ grassroots organizers who are working to create equality in their hometowns. We believe that the organizers on the frontlines of the Southern LGBTQ movement can transform our region—but they need the funding and support to do so.”, said Rev. Jasmine Beach-Ferrara, Executive Director.

The new grant rounds are part of CSE’s Southern Equality Fund, which has been providing grassroots grants across the LGBTQ South since 2015. Since its inception, the Southern Equality Fund has prioritized supporting work led by BIPOC, transgender, and rural organizers.

Having grown up in the South myself, I know what it means to be overlooked and censored. It’s empowering to have friends and mentors who are willing to take that chance on you. Our country is a transformative place where we can really ignite in real change.  ” said Christopher Armond, founder and Chief Herald of House of Heralds PR. “I’m eager to help other creatives amplify their voice and defy the odds through the art of storytelling. It is our responsibility to reshape the narrative of how we’re being perceived by mainstream media by bringing the African American culture to the American experience. We look forward to using our digital present and future to keep the conversation going about the brilliance, wit and strength of the African American diaspora .”

About Southern Equality:

At the Campaign for Southern Equality, we’re working to build a South where LGBTQ people are equal in every sphere of life. More than one-third of all LGBTQ Americans live in the South. But our community lacks basic legal protections, faces political attacks, and experiences health and income inequities. LGBTQ Southerners also live each day with courage and strength and are doing heroic work to promote equality in their hometowns. And every day, we hear powerful stories about how the South is changing. We were part of lawsuits that struck down marriage bans in North Carolina and Mississippi and a lawsuit that ended the adoption ban for LGBTQ parents in Mississippi. In these start-up years, we also ran more than 100 free legal clinics across the South helping people meet immediate needs.

About House Of Heralds:

House of Heralds is a multicultural Atlanta-based public relations, talent management and experiential agency. With a bold, innovative approach to communications, they help purpose-driven brands engineer influence and develop comprehensive business strategies to help them amplify their messaging.
